Some contractors are offering a
Sewer Connection solution
Denville won't accept!
Frank Richie, the Denville Township Plumbing Inspector, will only allow the abandoned systems to be filled with sand, gravel, or a sand/gravel mix. This will prevent any future settling. Any contractor that proposes the use of the existing soil to fill the abandoned systems, will be fined, and the system will fail its inspection.
Frank Richie also indicates that any raw sewage that has to be pumped out of the existing system will have to be pumped into a Vacuum Truck, not into the new sewer system. Any contractor that pumps the raw sewage into the new sewer system will be fined accordingly.
If you have any questions for Mr. Richie, please feel free to contact him at (973) 625-8300 x.256. He will be more than happy to explain this to you.
Below is the law copied out of The NJ State Building Code Manual regarding the abandonment of existing septic systems. Please review.
7:9A-12.8 Abandoned systems
(a) When it is necessary to abandon a system or components of a system, in place for any reason other than connection to a sanitary sewer line, all septic tanks, dosing tanks, seepage pits, dry wells and cesspools which are to be abandoned shall be emptied of wastes and removed or filled completely with gravel, stones or soil material in a manner which is acceptable to the administrative authority. In cases where the individual subsurface sewage disposal system, or components thereof, is being abandoned due to the connection of the facility to a sanitary sewer line, the local plumbing inspector shall ensure the system is abandoned in accordance with the requirements of this section.

My name is Anthony Cortese, and I am the President of Greener Concepts, LLC. I want to assure you that doing business with my company will be a very positive experience. Since 1989, we've done something unique in our business... we eliminate most of the problems people traditionally have trying to hire, evaluate and work with a contractor. I have twenty plus years of experience with the installation of underground utilities. I have installed pipe from 1 inch to 12 feet in diameter, at depths up to thirty feet.
If you need excavating, landscaping or hardscaping, it is possible for a project to be done right the first time without the hidden charges, hassles or poor quality that are all too commonly found in our industry.
We recognize that most people experience some concern while looking for and working with a residential contractor.
Here are 3 areas we recommend you consider in evaluation every contractor you talk to:
1. The Reputation and Business Stability of the Company
2. Their Experience and Methodology
3. Their Service before, during and after your project
Most Property Owners and Homeowners will only install a sewer hook up, once in a lifetime, if ever. Many do not know what questions to ask to evaluate a contractor. We will be happy to provide you with a complete copy of our company consumer guide to help you in your quest to find a reputable and professional contractor. I encourage you to carefully review our website and then call us at for a complete copy of our consumer guide prior to our meeting. If you're worried about the cost to install the sewer connection at your house, this information will provide you with an advantage in evaluating, hiring and working with a contractor. I realize our industry is competitive and I appreciate this opportunity to earn your business. I realize what it takes to get your business, what it takes to give you the results you demand and what needs to be done to eliminate many of the common headaches and frustrations people have with this project. Thanks for your time and we look forward to answering your questions about your project.
Sincerely,
Anthony Cortese - President
P.S. Don't forget to ask me about our 2-Year Warranty on Labor AND Materials - most of my competitors only warranty labor, if they give you any warranty.
Testimonials
Dear Anthony:
As I said, writing in English is not easy for me, but I wanted to say thank you before I leave for overseas.
You did solve our drainage problem with the fabulous job performance in a timely manner. Andy and I are very pleased with the results.
When you came to see our backyard, water was running like a stream through it. You walked and looked at it back and forth sincerely. Then you said about pumping out the water to make the land dry before you take the machine in. This made sense to me. I had a feeling this guy could solve the problem.
We liked your quick approach with quotation and project. One day I watched you operating that big machine (not the largest you might say) in the backyard. I truly felt this was the art.
We recommend Anthony Cortese, and Greener Concepts, LLC to anyone who is looking for underground utility work. Not only are you experienced, but you also love and care for what you do. It is nice to see these kinds of people nowadays.
Keep it up, Anthony. Hope to see you for our next projects in mind.
Sincerely,
Andy and Chieko Kobayashi
